We caught a fish.
We had it for breakfast.
But between catching it and eating it, we had a lot to digest.

I recall reading an account that Lin Pardey wrote – years ago – of a 30 day passage where “nothing at all happened”.
Which she used to illustrate a tendency of sailors, and probably humans generally, to accentuate the negative, the difficult or abnormal, and underreport or even ignore the positive and joyful. It’s human nature, but it makes our friends wonder why the hell we’re out here cruising!
So I’ve promised myself to keep pointing out what I fi d positive and lovely. The warmth. The sunsets. The beauty around us. The time spent with my love…
All these things and more are why we cruise. We’re not out here (at least I’m not!) For bad weather, bilge alarms and eye surgery, right? So I try to give time to both the minority events like broken fan belts AND the other 95% of our cruising, which is delightful!
After all, we attract that which we dwell upon in our thoughts, right?
